Electro-deionisation Plant

Vertex Hydropore specialises in the design and manufacture of skid mounted Electrodeionisation (EDI) systems across a wide range of commercial and industrial applications. Our range of skid mounted EDI systems start with a production rate as low as 250 litres per hour right up to volumes of 50,000 litres per hour or larger, with a large selection of sizes in between.

The EDI process system replaces conventional deionisation (DI) resin beds to produce deionized water. Unlike DI resin, EDI does not require shutdowns for resin regeneration using chemicals or for replacing mixed resin beds. EDI removes ions from aqueous streams, typically in conjunction with reverse osmosis (RO) and other purification devices. Our high-quality modules continually produce ultrapure water up to 18.2 MΩ.cm. EDI may be run continuously or intermittently.

Ion-selective membranes operate using the same principle and materials as ion-exchange resins, and they are used to transport specific ions away from their counterions. Anion-selective membranes are permeable to anions but not to cations; cation-selective membranes are permeable to cations but not to anions. The membranes are not water-permeable.

Reverse Osmosis is usually used as a pre-treatment to Electrodeionisation. Vertex Hydropore designs and manufacturers RO/EDI single skid packages and containerised plant to allow factory testing, easy transportation and minimal installation site time. RO/EDI skids use an advanced PLC with colour touch screen HMI to ensure reliable operation.

Vertex Hydropore also supplies standalone skid mounted EDI systems for retrofit to existing reverse osmosis systems.
